Wasn’t sure but I read a few reviews saying their fan was 20+ years old and it worked, so I decided to give it a shot. I got emails from the vendor to check on me and that if I needed any assistance to let them know. Got it today set the dip switches a few times as I lost my remote so I didn’t know the old code. After about 4-5 different switches it started working. Even the dimmer works. Great product and excellent customer service.

We have 5 Hampton Bay ceiling fans and love them. Over the years I’ve had to order 2 new remotes and was happy to see they still sell the exact one. Now if they’d only again sell the bedroom fans with the remotes instead of those ugly pull chains. Do you really want to get out of bed during the night and search for the light chain in the dark? We don’t.

As another reviewer noted, the HD6R does work to replace the original Hunter UC7848 remote control.
There are 4 DIP switches on the HD6R control versus the 5 DIP switches on the Hunter UC7848.
The Hunter remote has a frequency listing of 302.5 as where the HD6R lists frequency 303.9.
Switching the #4 switch on the HD6R to match the #5 switch of the UC7848 produces a working remote control. All functions appear to work just fine given initial use.
If you are looking to replace an original Hunter remote and the company is very little help as I discovered when they insisted I would have to buy a replacement control unit and universal remote for the fan and install it, give this cost-effective replacement a try for your use.
